Wat Hua Khao, Dem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province

The history of Luang Phor Yim is somewhat unclear. What is known is that he was born on Sunday, in the Year of the Dog, during the 7th month, towards the end of the reign of King Rama IV, which corresponds to June 1, 1863.

Ordination
He was ordained in 1883. A wandering monk from another region, Luang Phor Yim traveled to the area of Ban Hua Khao, in Amphoe Doembang Nang Buat, which at the time was a dense forest. He found the area peaceful and shaded, ideal for meditation and spiritual practices. Seeing its potential, he founded Wat Hua Khao and became its first abbot.

A Famous Monk as His Disciple
When Luang Pho Mui of Wat Don Rai was first ordained, Luang Phor Yim served as his chanting partner. During Luang Pho Mui’s second ordination, he became Luang Phor Yim’s disciple. Historical accounts suggest that Luang Pho Mui frequently visited Luang Phor Yim, even spending one rainy season at Wat Hua Khao to study magic and spiritual practices under his guidance. Luang Phor Yim later introduced him to study further with Luang Pu Suk of Wat Pak Khlong Makham Thao.

Under Luang Phor Yim’s leadership, Wat Hua Khao grew into one of the most prosperous temples of the time. Many prominent monks became his disciples, including Luang Pho Mui of Wat Don Rai, Luang Por Pui of Wat Ko, Luang Pu Khaek of Wat Hua Khao, and Luang Por Song of Wat Sala Din.

Passing
Luang Phor Yim passed away around the beginning of 1937, at the age of 74.
